Your Healthcare Team

Our Physicians

With more than 650 physicians, Capital Health has one of the largest, most comprehensive medical staffs in the area. Our physicians are board certified and trained in nearly 40 specialties. The physician who admits you is responsible for directing your care while you are in the hospital. Your physician, as the coordinator for your treatment program, should be consulted if you have questions about your illness.

Our Magnet Nurses

Capital Health nurses are among the best in the nation. Our nurses have received the prestigious honor of Magnet Recognition for Excellence in Nursing Practice, not once, but twice by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Capital Health earned this special designation for the first time in 2002 and again in 2006.
When you come to a hospital with Magnet designation, you can count on excellence in nursing service for exemplary nursing leadership and a high quality of patient care. Capital Health nurses are advocates for our patients, families and loved ones.
A registered professional nurse leads a team of clinical nursing staff to deliver excellent personalized care. The nursing team consists of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, counselors, and patient care assistants. Additionally, advanced practice nurses and other specialists are available to meet your specialized needs.

Patient Advocates

Our patient advocates are here to accommodate the needs of patients, visitors, physicians, and staff. Should a question or concern during your stay, please call (Capital Health Regional Medical Center) or ext. 4280 (Mercer Campus).

Pastoral Care

The Pastoral Care Department at Capital Health offers you and your family spiritual and emotional support. A chaplain can be reached by dialing ext. 4641. Services provided by the department include counseling on end-of-life issues or ethical questions, support with crisis and grief, and the availability of reading and meditation materials.
Both campuses have interfaith chapels, located on the first floor, that are always open. The department also provides a confidential hospital prayer line. Patients and their families may call ext. 4381, 24 hours a day, to leave prayer requests. When calling the prayer line, please leave your name and intentions to be included in daily prayers conducted by the chaplain.
Upon your request, the Pastoral Department will be glad to notify your faith community that you are here. If a Roman Catholic Priest is needed, dial "O" for the operator.

Additional Members of Your Healthcare Team

During your stay you may be visited by many other healthcare professionals including personnel from the laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, and respiratory departments, physical and occupational therapists, speech pathologists, dietitians, case managers, and patient educators. In addition, the Capital Health family includes many behind-the-scenes workers, such as accountants, engineers, secretaries, food service workers, escort, housekeeping, maintenance, and others who contribute greatly toward your well being while you are here.
