Overview
The Department of Psychiatry of Capital Health Medical Center welcomes you to our 13th Annual Psychiatry Conference, Violent Threat Assessment – A National Emergency: The Cutting Edge in Recognition, Management, and Prevention of Violent Behavior. This informative conference will address issues related to campus violence, terrorism, stalking, workplace harassment, radicalization, and more. Medical, nursing, social work and other mental health clinicians, human resource professionals, and security and law enforcement personnel who are called to provide care for or protect victims of violence in any of these arenas will find this conference to be crucial to their understanding of how to approach this work, armed with the knowledge and techniques shared by violent threat assessment experts. This informative and timely conference is offered in partnership with the Northeast Chapter of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP) and is offered with the support of the Anti-Violence Initiatives of The College of New Jersey. This is an important time for understanding behavioral threat assessment, as we are increasingly aware of recent nationwide and global concerns. This conference aims to bring inspired people together, to ensure our practices and policies sit at the cutting edge of current knowledge

- Discuss the impact of landmark legal cases on mental health professionals' duty to warn third parties of threats.
