Earlier this year, Dr. Louis D’Amelio was named vice president of Clinical Performance at Capital Health. Dr. D’Amelio previously served as chairman of the Department of Surgery and medical director of the level II Bristol-Myers Squibb Trauma Center at Capital Health Regional Medical Center.
“As hospitals across the country continue efforts to reduce hospital acquired conditions and unnecessary readmissions, our organization’s ability to address these and other matters related to safety and quality will continue to make us the region’s premier healthcare provider,” said Dr. D’Amelio.
Dr. D'Amelio received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College, and in addition to his surgical and critical care training, he has completed fellowships in clinical pharmacology and trauma research. He is board certified in surgery and critical care by the American Board of Surgery.
As part of his decades-long experience as an expert in trauma care, Dr. D’Amelio leads numerous hospital, state, and national committees related to trauma care and patient safety. He serves as a national trauma accreditation surveyor for the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Committee on Trauma’s Verification, Review, and Consultation Program and chairs the Board Quality and Safety Committee at Capital Health. He is one of 38 members on the ACS national Committee on Trauma.
