Administration

Lisa ZavorskiLisa Zavorski, Executive Director

Before joining Capital Health in 2022, Lisa held many leadership positions at St. Francis Medical Center since 1991, including her role as executive director of their LIFE St. Francis program. When Capital Health assumed responsibility for services formerly provided by St. Francis, Lisa continued in her position of executive director after the transition. She received her Master of Science degree in health administration from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

 

Suzanne Kucker, Clinical Director 

As clinical director of Capital Health LIFE, Suzanne oversees all clinical services, including the clinic, In-Home Services, In-Home Nursing Services, Pharmacy, Therapy, Social Work, and all scheduling. 

Suzanne's academic journey is a testament to her commitment to health care. She holds a master's degree in adult health nursing from Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania and a nursing degree from Trenton State College (now known as The College of New Jersey) in Ewing, New Jersey. Suzanne is also licensed in New Jersey as an assisted living administrators.

Before joining Capital Health, Suzanne held clinical leadership roles in skilled nursing, assisted living, rehabilitation, and hospice setting.  Her operational leadership skills developed through roles as director of Community Relations for a rehabilitation hospital, executive director of an assisted living facility, and executive director of several hospice services. Suzanne has also held senior leadership team in two startup health care ventures, an acute rehabilitation hospital, and a hospice provider. Her responsibilities have include strategic planning, policy and procedure development, compliance and process, budget development, and strategic growth plans. Before joining Capital Health, Suzanne was an active member in the southern New Jersey Division of the Tri-County Regional Ethics Committee (TREC), a not-for-profit organization of health care professionals who help organizations resolve complex ethical issues.

 

Gregg SternGregg Stern, Accounting Manager

Gregg is the accounting manager at Capital Health LIFE. He graduated from Monmouth University with a Master in Business Administration degree and has more than 30 years of general health care accounting experience. Gregg joined Capital Health LIFE in June 2018 as the accounting manager and has worked diligently to ensure the program meets all its financial obligations for Capital Health, our participants, and the government. 

 

Clinicians

Ahmad FarooqAhmad Farooq, MD, MSHS, FACP, CMD, CHCQM, FABQUARP
Medical Director

Dr. Farooq joined Capital Health LIFE in October 2023 as the medical director. He had previously worked as medical director of Lutheran Senior LIFE (a PACE Program in Northern New Jersey) on multiple occasions. Prior to joining Capital Health, Dr. Farooq was regional medical director of Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey, where he provided direct oversight at Lutheran Senior LIFE and at Journey Hospice in Philadelphia. He has been affiliated with Capital Health for more than seven years and has previously worked in multiple geriatrics and palliative care leadership positions within the Veteran Affairs system and other settings. Dr. Farooq is board certified in internal medicine, geriatric medicine, and hospice and palliative medicine. He completed his internal medicine training and was Chief Resident at Detroit Medical Center/Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, followed by geriatric medicine fellowship training at Loyola University Chicago in Illinois.  

Dr. Faroog is passionate about older adults’ health and psychosocial issues and is an ardent practitioner of patient-centric care. He holds a master’s degree in Clinical Leadership from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and is a Certified Medical Director of the American Board of Post-Acute and Long Term Care Medicine. Dr. Farooq is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Board of Quality Assurance & Utilization Review Physicians.

 

Suganthini Umakanthan, MD, CMD

Dr. Umakanthan is a board certified attending physician in internal medicine and geriatrics. After her postdoctoral fellowship in geriatrics, she worked at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center at RWJ St. Barnabas for 18 years. With Capital Health LIFE, Dr. Umakanthan is a geriatrician with a special interest in dementia, delirium, and palliative care. She is also a Certified Medical Director and Castle Connolly nominated Top Geriatric Physician.

 

Heather Laughland, APN, MSN, ANP-BC, CRNP

Heather Laughland received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Rosemont College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s and master’s degree in nursing from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. Before joining Capital Health LIFE in 2016, Heather worked in the Intensive Care Unit at Methodist Hospital in Philadelphia. She was a successful researcher at Thomas Jefferson University in the field of Parkinson’s disease for more than a decade and spent several years practicing a private pain management practice. Heather is currently pursuing a post-master’s degree in psychiatry at Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.  

 

Stephanie Moon, APN, MSN, ANP-BC

Stephanie Moon is a board certified advanced practice nurse board specializing in adult health. She completed both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Before joining Capital Health, Stephanie has served the geriatric population for almost 20 years, working at LIFE St. Francis in Delaware and as a home care provider in South Jersey.
