Al Maghazehe, PhD, FACHEPresident & Chief Executive Officer
Capital Health

Al Maghazehe is the president and CEO of Capital Health. Under his visionary leadership, Maghazehe has led the transformation of Capital Health from an inner-city health system to a regional health care destination, attracting patients from throughout New Jersey and Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

Comprised of two Mercer County based hospitals - Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton and Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell and two Satellite Emergency Departments, the system also includes various outpatient services. This includes a comprehensive network of primary and specialty care practices with locations throughout several New Jersey counties and Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

The transformation of Capital Health has allowed Mr. Maghazehe to recruit nationally recognized specialists and develop service lines that bring the advanced clinical care expected at large academic centers to a more community-based health care system.

Maghazehe joined what was then Helene Fuld Medical Center (now Capital Health Regional Medical Center) in 1979, where he began his professional career as a graduate school intern and progressed to Chief Executive Officer. He was named president and CEO of Capital Health in 1998.

Mr. Maghazehe’s deep commitment to Trenton is embodied in Capital Health’s Trenton Neighborhood Initiative. This multi-year initiative is driving investment in programs addressing the social determinants of health in the neighborhoods surrounding Capital Health in Trenton. Helping Trentonians as they live, work, grow and connect, Maghazehe is committed to the health and wellbeing of the community well beyond the walls of Capital Health’s hospitals.

Maghazehe received his doctorate in Business Management from Pacific International University, California, a master's degree in Health Services Administration from Wagner College, New York, and a bachelor’s degree from the Institute of Paramedical Sciences. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
