Most of the medical training experiences related to the Capital Health Internal Medicine Residency Program take place at Capital Health Regional Medical Center (RMC), which is located at 750 Brunswick Avenue, Trenton, New Jersey 08638.
Though the hospital is located in an urban area, there are nearby suburban communities in New Jersey and Pennsylvania that are within a 15 mile radius of RMC and home to residents and employees of Capital Health. For many, it’s a short 20-30 minute drive to the hospital.
In New Jersey, employees come to us from the communities of Lawrence, Hopewell, Hamilton or Plainsboro in Mercer or Middlesex counties. Shopping, dining, child care, and other services are easily accessible in these areas.
In Pennsylvania, many residents live in the Bucks County, Pennsylvania communities of Fairless Hills, Levittown, Yardley, or Newtown. Children attend schools in Pennsbury, Council Rock, or Neshaminy school districts in these towns. There is a variety of housing, from apartments to townhomes and single-family homes. From this area, it takes approximately 15-20 minutes to drive to RMC. Shopping, dining, and other services are typically a 5-10 minute drive away.
On days off or vacations, residents and their families can enjoy Sesame Place, a children’s themed amusement park, as well as a variety of parks and nature centers, including Tyler State Park in Newtown, Pennsylvania with more than 1,700 acres. Mercer County Park, which covers areas in West Windsor, Hamilton, and Lawrence townships in New Jersey, features 2,500 acres of picnic areas, walking trails, and recreation areas for children. Princeton New Jersey, a 20-minute drive from RMC, offers the McCarter Theater and a variety of dining and shopping options.
Capital Health Regional Medical Center and the communities in Pennsylvania and New Jersey where our residents live are a one-hour train ride to New York City Penn Station. Trains run from Trenton, Hamilton, and Princeton Junction regularly every day.
Philadelphia, where you can enjoy many historic sites and entertainment options, is just 30-45 minutes away by car. The city also offers a wide variety of world-renowned museums for children and adults, diverse dining experiences, and a world-class music scene. In addition to seasonal concerts, many international races in running, boating, and biking also take place in the city.
For those who enjoy outdoor activities like skiing/tubing and hiking, the Pocono Mountains are approximately two hours away by car. During the warmer months, the New Jersey beaches are easy to reach, some less than an hour away!
