Marc Whitman, MD
Dr. Marc Whitman is board certified in infectious disease. He received his medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Piscataway, NJ. He completed an infectious disease fellowship at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Whitman is chairman of the Infection Prevention Department and the hospital epidemiologist at Capital Health. He is certified to deliver hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
Wound Care
Louis Fares, MD
Dr. Fares is board certified in general surgery and has more than 40 years of experience in the surgical field. He completed his general surgery residency at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey, where he was both chief resident and administrative chief. He received his medical degree from the University of Santo Tomas Medical School in Manila, Philippines.
Dr. Fares was in private practice for 30 years prior to working at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, New Jersey. During his time at St. Francis, he was president of the medical staff for eight years, the longest serving chairman of the Department of Surgery for 20 years and the surgical director of the Advanced Wound Center for almost a decade. He has been on staff at Capital Health since 1992.
Throughout his distinguished medical career, Dr. Fares was the program director of the Surgical Residency Program at St. Francis Medical Center and is a clinical associate professor of Surgery at St. George’s Medical School. He has been honored to be president of the Mercer County Medical Society as well as the chairman of the board of trustees of the Urban League of Metropolitan Trenton.
In his spare time, Dr. Fares is a team surgeon for the Trenton Thunder baseball club.
Steven A. Maffei, DPM
Dr. Steven Maffei is board certified in podiatric surgery and orthopaedics. He received his degree in podiatric medicine from Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He completed his podiatric surgery residency program and his podiatric infectious disease fellowship at St. Michael’s Medical Center in Newark, NJ, where he served as chief resident of Podiatry his senior year. Dr. Maffei has shared his extensive knowledge through offering more than 350 lectures to various medical and community groups. He is also a founding member of the Capital Health Center for Wound Management & Hyperbaric Medicine and a fellow of the American Professional Wound Care Association.
Scott D. Warren, DPM, FACFAS
Dr. Scott Warren is a board certified podiatrist with more than 35 years of experience treating patients with foot conditions that range from ingrown toenails, calluses, and tendinitis to more complex conditions such as diabetic ulcers, cellulitis, and osteomyelitis. Dr. Warren is skilled in wound care management and infection control and offers various treatment options to alleviate pain, promote healing, and improve foot function.
After receiving his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dr. Warren completed a podiatric surgical residency at Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Stratford, New Jersey.
Before joining Capital Health, Dr. Warren was in private practice in Stratford, New Jersey and was also section chief of the Podiatric Surgery Department at Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Stratford. As an educator, he provided direct supervision and precepting to podiatry residents in the operating room setting for more than 30 years. In his free time, Dr. Warren likes spending time with family, traveling, cheering for Philadelphia sports teams, and playing golf.
