Thank you for your interest in our program. We are so excited to welcome our first class of residents in the summer of 2021. I have been involved in residency education as both program director and assistant program director for more than a decade and can honestly say nothing brings me more satisfaction professionally. Every resident possesses unique strengths and requires guidance in different ways. Our faculty is incredibly dedicated and motivated to making each and every resident feel supported as an integral member of our Emergency Medicine family.
Each Emergency Department across the country has its own assets, its own areas of improvement, and its own flavor. Looking to the future, each resident will need to consider where they want to live and in what setting they wish to practice. Our program is fortunate to offer clinical experience in two very different but equally rewarding settings. Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell is home to a state-of-the-art institution with medical and surgical services that are provided by a top-notch health care team dedicated to meeting the highest standards. Fifteen minutes away in downtown Trenton, Capital Health Regional Medical Center (RMC) has an equally devoted health care team and is home to our Level II Bristol Myers Squibb Trauma Center as well as our dedicated Neurological Emergency Department. Both facilities complement each other and will help prepare our residents for whichever setting they wish to practice in.
Outside the Department, we have various educational experiences. Our academic day sessions incorporate various teaching modalities to help improve patient care skills and solidify medical knowledge in the most supportive manner. We explore ways for each of us to improve our care through evidence-based medicine and group discussion. We have a dedicated simulation lab for developing procedural competency, bedside care, and leadership skills.
Residency is a challenging phase, but one that greatly affects how residents deliver care the rest of their careers. We are honored by those who choose to have us play a part in this period of their life. Should you choose to come here, remember that our goal is your goal - for you to be the best you can be so that you may provide your community with the care they deserve. I wish you all the best in your journey.
