Dr. Omara Afzal is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. Prior to joining Capital Health, she was an attending OB/GYN physician at Mount Sinai Hospital and Jabobi Medical Center/North Central Bronx Hospital in New York, New York.
Dr. Afzal earned her medical degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, New York. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at New York Medical College, Westchester Medical Center/Metropolitan Hospital Center in Valhalla, New York and a fellowship in Global Woman’s Health at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, New York. Dr. Afzal also earned a Masters of Public Health, Health Policy and Management degree from New York Medical College, School of Health Sciences and Practice in Valhalla, New York.
Dr. Afzal is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, she is an assistant professor of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive science at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, New York. Dr. Afzal has published research in national medical journals and presented at national and regional medical conferences. She is passionate about global and community health, community outreach and medical eduation training.
