With a 45+ year relationship with Capital Health as an employee and supporter, Nancy Praznoski can share a lot about the system’s evolution and how the health and well-being of neighboring communities has been enhanced over the years.
Likewise, she is uniquely positioned to share the impact of philanthropy on the system - and why she has been a philanthropic supporter of the hospital system for 35 years.
“I’ve always believed in the mission as well as hospital leadership, and I certainly could see how the community needed us to grow and expand. When the opportunity to donate to the hospital’s expansion came up, I didn’t hesitate to get involved.”
Modeling the charitable practices of her parents, and inspired by the generosity of her peers in nursing leadership, Praznoski first purchased tickets to a fundraising event that featured Bob Hope, then began to make gifts through payroll deduction donations, by supporting the Auxiliary, and ultimately becoming a member of Capital Women in Philanthropy. “Seeing other employees give back was incredible and I knew I wanted to be involved in ways that expanded my commitment as an employee.”
“I’m not the biggest donor, for sure, but my mindset is that many of us can give back at some level, and that’s been my approach to keeping Capital Health as a philanthropic priority. I like to think that if a lot of people give something, it adds up and makes a big impact.”
