Viola Berkeyheiser is a registered nurse with more than 30 years of experience as a certified nurse midwife in the greater Mercer and Bucks county regions. Before becoming a midwife, Viola was a registered nurse in Labor and Delivery for 12 years at Helen Fuld Medical Center (currently Capital Health Regional Medical Center) in Trenton, New Jersey.
Viola graduated from the Helene Fuld School of Nursing and Mercer County Community College as a registered nurse. She later earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey. Viola graduated from the Nurse Midwifery Program at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and is board certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board.
Before joining Capital Health, Viola was a certified nurse midwife at Saint Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, Pennsylvania and Planned Parenthood of Mercer County, New Jersey. She is certified for surgical first assisting at Cesarean delivery, infant circumcision, neonatal resuscitation, lactation, and fetal monitoring.
In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Viola is a preceptor for family practice residents, nurse midwifery students and advance practice nurses at Capital Health.
Viola volunteers for Easel, Ewing Township’s animal rescue and the Mercer County Medical Reserve Corp. She is an avid cook.
