Ali Diwan, DO
Dr. Ali Diwan graduated from Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (TouroCOM) in Middletown, NY in 2023. He received his Bachelors in Cell Biology and Neuroscience from Rutgers University – New Brunswick. The pace of the ED and the diversity of pathologies are what drove him to pursue emergency medicine. He hopes to incorporate innovative pain management strategies in his future practice.
Dr. Diwan is an avid reader and a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia 76ers. He also holds a Quranic degree from Al Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt. He has been a proud resident of Central New Jersey since 2000.
Zia Umar Farooq, MD
Dr. Farooq is a well-rounded medical professional with a background in both engineering and medicine. He earned his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from Rutgers School of Engineering before making a mark in the biotech industry with his work on neural networks and pattern recognition. His pursuit of medicine led him to St. George's University School of Medicine in St. George's, Grenada, where he successfully completed his medical degree.
Alongside his academic achievements, Dr. Farooq has shown a longstanding commitment to community service, serving as a volunteer EMT in his local area since he was in high school.
Tim Fisher, MD
Dr. Tim Fisher earned his medical degree from Cooper Medical School of Rowan University with a distinction in service learning. Prior to making a career change, he completed his Master's Degree in Education at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA and worked as a high school STEM teacher in West Philadelphia. He previously owned a lawn care business and received his Bachelors degree in Business Management from East Stroudsburg University in East Stroudsburg, PA.
Outside of medicine, Tim enjoys exploring the Philadelphia and New Jersey area with his wife and daughter. He spends his free time visiting the Jersey shore with family, playing basketball, reading, skateboarding, and being a passionate Philadelphia sports fan.
Drew Mazurkiewicz, MD
Dr. Drew Mazurkiewicz is a tri-state native and received his medical degree from Windsor University School of Medicine in St. Kitts. Before medical school, he received his Bachelors degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. He became interested in emergency medicine because his mom and brother were nurses working in the emergency department. Like them, he was attracted to the fast-paced, high-intensity environment of the ER.
Prior to medical school and before knowing he wanted to work in the medical field, Dr. Mazurkiewicz was investing in the stock market and working as a flair bartender on the side. He also holds an active real estate license. Capital Health was his first choice for residency not only because of the great things he was told about the program, but also because it gave him the chance to come back to the area where the rest of his family resides.
Outside of work, he enjoys anything that involves the outdoors, including going to the beach, fishing, boating, golfing, and snowboarding. He is also an avid sports fan and is always looking for a pickup game of soccer, basketball, volleyball, or football with friends.
Moses Onwuchekwa, DO
Dr. Moses Onwuchekwa received his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University - Newark and obtained a medical degree from St. George’s School of Medicine in St. George's, Grenada. He completed clinical rotations in multiple hospitals, including St. Michael's Medical Center in Newark, NJ, Bergen New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus, NJ, Hackensack Meridian Medical Center in Hackensack, NJ, The Brooklyn Hospital Center in Brooklyn, NY, Woodhull Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, and Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson, NJ.
Before medical school, Dr. Onwuchekwa was a Clinical Research Scientist with multiple pharmaceutical companies. He conducted Phase I - Phase IV clinical trials in Oncology, Hematology, Cardiovascular, and Ophthalmology studies.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Onwuchekwa loves to spend time with his beautiful wife and daughter. Dr. Onwuchekwa is fluent in Igbo, Yoruba, and English.
Shahrukh Syed, DO
Dr. Shahrukh Syed received his medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed both his Bachelors degree in Exercise Science and Kinesiology and his Masters degree in Biological Sciences from Rutgers University. Dr. Syed was drawn to Emergency Medicine for its fast-paced nature, critical care aspect, and wide range of procedures. He has an interest in health care administration and chose Capital Health for its diverse patient population and pathology.
Dr. Syed is fluent in Urdu. He enjoys traveling to national parks, watching movies on the biggest IMAX screens, road trips, and spending time with his family and friends.
