The Nurse Residency and Mentoring Program builds on pre-licensure education to help nurses become leaders during their first year of practice. Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing education program
- Licensure in the State of New Jersey as a registered nurse (RN) at the start of the program
- No prior nursing experience as an RN
- Certification in basic life support (BLS) through the American Heart Association
- Attendance at one of our nurse resident open house/interview sessions
- Start during one of the cohort start dates
Upon being hired into the program, nurse residents must commit to full-time employment at Capital Health for a minimum of two years. Additional expectations include:
- Attendance and active participation in monthly sessions
- Completion of all required documentation, including program surveys and evaluations
- Completion of an evidence-based practice project (EBP)
- Attendance at the nurse residency graduation celebration, where EBPs are presented
- Participation in the mentoring aspect of the program
