Although hospitals across the country are taking steps to keep their patients safe, medical errors can happen. There are many unique challenges to safety in the health care setting that are not experienced in any other workplace settings, including (but not limited to) the number of steps involved in getting the correct diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care plan; the many specialists and health care professionals involved in the care of a single patient; the potentially infectious environment caused by treating patients with highly contagious illnesses; and the confusion caused by medical jargon and complex instructions that patients are asked to follow.
To help us address these challenges, Capital Health dedicates significant staff and financial resources to maintaining a high standard of patient safety.
